Arkansas Easter Weekend
Drive, a sketch
We started out in the rain
Low clouds on W-74
Road to Ponca
Buffalo River roaring
Up river valley to Mt Sherman
Green trees no leaves green bark
Rocks – green
Air – fresh
Center strip of highway – a washboard
Tires voomvoomvoom when hitting that line
Up into clouds – fog lights on, can't see a thing
Ribbons of smoky gray hanging
from the top of
sky
Green and blue canoes
stacked 7 up – 2 deep
Camp Orr
Mt Sherman Assembly of God
Mt Sherman Fire Dept – Volunteer
Tan muddy cows, huge when lying down
Circle of calves standing, pure white, no mud
Horseshoe Canyon Guest House
Buffalo River Ranch Resort
Lone horse lying down in field looking at us looking at her
Wild daffodils
Up and Up deeper into clouds
and down now
Steep and crooked with hairpin curves
Guard rails are serious business
Car waddles down one tire at a time

Ears popping

Steel Creek Cabins 870-861-5890

Crooked Highway – an apt Arkansas descriptor
Serious guard rails, again

Elk Overlook
Down to bottom valley
And we remembered the "bug cabin"
Where Lady Bugs fell from the ceiling and
The gas stove smelled like gas and
We opened the window and
The bugs flew out and
We made love in the back bedroom and
A rooster crowed at 3:00am
